Two Christmas night robbery attempts

One attempted robbery and one robbery took place in the city on the evening of December 25.

At 6:10 p.m., a male entered the Riggins gas station on Calhoun Street, as another male sat waiting in a vehicle outside. A caller stated the male was armed, but no weapons were seen.

The two fled the scene, down West Hanover Street, toward Passaic Street, he said.

No one was injured. Police said the vehicle was an older model Acura, dark in color. Caver said the police are investigating whether or not it’s the same pair of individuals that robbed the AutoZone on South Broad Street Friday night.

Ten minutes after the call for the Riggins gas station attempted robbery, police received a call from a woman on Beatty Street, who said she was robbed near Bakery Las Delicias.

An off-duty police officer was traveling through the area, when he noticed the male fleeing. He chased the male near the bakery, but was unable to catch the suspect.

Double homicide

The Trentonian is reporting that Trenton police were on the first block of Overbrook Avenue, where, according to sources, two people are dead following a shooting late Wednesday night, December 21.

Sources are saying the shooting may be the product of a robbery gone wrong, where the two deceased victims were the ones attempting the robbery. The intended victim also may have been armed, but it’s unclear at this point who shot who.

The location of the initial robbery attempt is also in question, as some sources have said it occurred on the street, while others say it may have been a home invasion.
