  • September 29 -- Trenton police are still trying to piece together the circumstances surrounding the shooting, which took place in the 400 block of South Olden Avenue about 7:45 p.m. Monday.  Detective Capt. Joseph Juniak said preliminary information gathered by police suggests that the victim was shot after a verbal dispute between two groups of people -- many of them women -- turned violent.  The man, whose identity was not immediately available, was in critical condition and immediately taken into surgery, Juniak said.  No description of the shooter is available at this time.
  • September 28 -- City police have named a suspect in Sunday's killing of 29-year-old Felix Enrique Cardona and, confirming the reports of friends of the victims, they believe Cardona was killed by a friend.  Luis Alverado, also known as Carlos Gonzalez, is a 29-year-old resident of Charles Street and is now wanted on murder and weapons offenses warrants.  Trenton police describe Alverado as a Guatemalan male, 5 foot 8 inches tall, 155 pounds, and medium skin complexion. He has the tattoo "AMOR" on the fingers of one of his hands.  Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for anyone with information on the whereabouts of Alverado, leading to his arrest.   • September 28 -- A 39-year-old city man was shot at as he drove his car in the 600 block of Pennington Avenue Sunday afternoon, police reported. The man was driving just after 1:45 p.m. when police said he saw three people standing at the corner of Pennington and Alden avenues. As he drove by, one person on the corner allegedly pulled out a handgun and opened fire on the car, the bullets striking the driver's side door. The driver was not injured, but he sped from the area and contacted police. Crime scene detectives checked the car and found about six .380 shell casings at the scene of the shooting.
  • September 27 -- A city man was shot in the leg early Saturday as he drove down Sanford Street, police reported. The 19-year-old male victim was driving with an 18-year-old female passenger on the street around 12:20 a.m. Police said the two drove past two men standing in front of a house, then heard two shots. The 19-year-old sped away from the area, then realized he was shot in the right leg. Switching places with the 18-year-old so that she was driving, the 19-year-old went to Capital Health System at Mercer hospital to seek treatment.
  • September 21 -- A man was shot as he exited a park on Breunig Avenue at about 8:25 p.m. Sunday.
  • September 21 -- An 89 year old Hoffman Avenue man was the victim of a home invasion/robbery.  At about 12:16 p.m. on Sunday.  The suspects were described as three black males between the ages of 15 and 17 and ranging from 5'3" to 5'7" tall. 
  • September 20 -- At approximately 10:51 Saturday night, a man was lured to the rear of Rittman's Bar, hit in the head and robbed of a cell phone and $64 cash.  The suspects are described as 2 black males, 18-22 years of age.  One was about 5'2" and the other about 6'0" tall.
  • September 20 -- A 46 year old male was assaulted and robbed as he left a store in the 1100 block of East State Street at about 5:05 p.m. Saturday.  The suspects are described as two black males, about 5'10" and 5'10" and 180 pounds.
  • September 20 -- A 29 year old male walking in the vicinity of Carroll and East State Streets was assaulted by a black male, approximately 50 years old at 2:50 a.m, Saturday. The victim asked the suspect for directions to the Rescue Mission.  The suspect seemed to get agitated for no reason and struck the victim in the face with an unknown object.
  • September 19 -- A Hispanic male dressed in black pants, black hoodie and sky blue hat fired a sawed off shotgun into the front of a house in the 100 block of Anderson Street at about 2:00 p.m. Friday. None of the six people in the home at the time of the shooting were injured.
  • September 15 -- A city man walked into the Capital Health System at Mercer emergency room after being shot in the legs and groin early Monday at the corner of West State Street and Hermitage Avenue. The 29-year-old told detectives arriving at the hospital just before 1:45 a.m. that he had been shot following a robbery. Police said the man was wounded in both his left and right legs, as well as the groin area. He received preliminary treatment at Mercer, but then was taken to Capital Health System at Fuld hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
  • September 14 -- A 25-year-old Plainsboro man was assaulted while walking in the area of Cliff Street early Sunday, police said. While walking on the street about 12:30 a.m., the man felt as though he was being followed and tried to hide in some backyards to escape his pursuers. The man, who was intoxicated at the time, was unsuccessful at concealing himself and the robbers found him and assaulted him. Police said he was unable to describe his assailants.
  • September 13 -- Investigators are trying to determine how a badly beaten woman came to be assaulted, but are receiving little cooperation from the victim, police said.  Chataqua Hoffman, 20, was assaulted on the 900 block of Edgewood Avenue around 8 a.m. Saturday by unknown attackers. She received a fractured nose and fractured ribs, the latter injury resulting in a punctured left lung.  Police sources say the victim has been uncooperative with investigators.
  • September 12 -- A city man was shot to death by intruders in his home late Friday night as he was tucking his 2-year-old daughter into bed, police reported. Tracey Lamont Crews, 23, was shot at least once in his neck Friday night around 11:45 after he went into his house on the 400 block of Whittaker Avenue to put his daughter to bed and was confronted by two intruders, police said.  Crews and his wife had just arrived at their house after shopping late Friday night and Crews went inside the house to put their daughter to bed while his wife was still outside, police said. Crews' wife entered the house a few moments later and heard someone running down the rear staircase of the house, according to police. She heard two loud bangs, which she thought were gunshots, and saw two men in dark clothing near the rear of the house, police said. 
  • September 11 -- An elderly resident of the township's upscale Mountain View neighborhood was robbed in his home Thursday by a trio of thieves who rifled his home and stole money. The 84-year-old man, whose name was not released by police, was alone in the kitchen of his Aquetong Road home when two men and a woman entered shortly after 5 p.m. "They came up behind him and said 'We're not here to hurt you. We just want your money,' " said Ewing Police Detective Pat Holt.  While one of the men sat with the man in the kitchen, the other two people went through the house and rifled through cabinets and drawers. They left with $300 in cash, he said. Police do not know how the trio entered the house, but there were no signs of forced entry, Holt said.
  • September 10 -- Two bike-riding robbers held up a man at the corner of Emmett Street and Quinton Avenue Wednesday night, police said. The 25-year-old victim was getting out of his car when one of the robbers put a gun to the man's head and demanded he not move. The two robbers then took the man's wallet, which held $20, a cell phone and keys, police said.  The two robbers then got on their bicycles and rode away. Both robbers were described as being in their teens.
  • September 10 -- The case of a man who allegedly was threatened by gunmen at his front door Wednesday night is being investigated as an aggravated assault by police.  Police said a 59-year-old man was inside his home on the 200 block of Dickinson Street just before 11:30 p.m. when he heard someone banging on the door. Looking out the second-floor window to see what was going on, the man allegedly saw two men wearing ski masks outside, one armed with a silver handgun. The armed man allegedly demanded that the resident get back inside his house before the suspects fled.
  • September 9 --- A city man was robbed by two armed men while getting into his car Tuesday night, police said. The unnamed 37-year-old was leaving a store at the corner of Landing and Centre streets just after 8:30 p.m. Police said that just as he was about to get in his vehicle, he was approached by two men, one of whom was armed with a sawed-off shotgun. They demanded money from the victim.  The man complied, gave the two robbers $30, and they fled. The two suspects were described as black males, 6'1", 150 pounds, approximately 18 years old.  One was wearing a white T-Shirt and armed with a shotgun.
  • September 7 --- Two Sunday robberies
    • At 12:30 a.m. Sunday, at Morris and Chestnut avenues, a 26-year-old male was robbed by a lone gunman who pointed a gun at his head and demanded money. But the robber fled after going through the victim's pockets and coming up empty. 
    • At 4:35 a.m. Sunday, a 28-year-old city man was robbed on New York Avenue as he walked to Capital Health System at Fuld hospital.  Police said the man left a motel in the area and to seek medical attention for pain in his left arm when another male approached him an announced a robbery. The victim raised his arms in the air and said he had no money, but the attacker pulled out a sharp black object and began assaulting him. The two struggled and the robber finally found $325 from the victim's left rear pocket and ran away. The victim was not seriously injured in the attack.
  • September 6 --- Carjacked delivery driver first of three thefts on Saturday
    • At 12:50 a.m. Saturday with the carjacking of a delivery vehicle in the 300 block of Woodland Street.  A 32-year-old woman, delivering for Cluck U Chicken, was making a delivery on the block when two males approached her from behind, pushed her aside, and jumped in her vehicle and drove away. The person who ordered the food called police for the woman, who was not injured.   Police located the vehicle moments later, abandoned, after it had apparently struck several parked cars on Anderson Street between Cummings and Ashmore avenues.
    • At about 1:45 a.m., Saturday, a man approached Sgt. Joe Rivera behind police headquarters and handed him a gun, wrapped in a white rag. The man, a 47-year-old city man, said someone had tried to rob him and he'd been able to grab the weapon.  The .32 caliber semi-automatic handgun was loaded with four bullets. The victim told police he had just parked his truck in the 300 block of Hamilton Avenue a short time earlier and was getting food from the passenger's side when he heard a clicking sound.  He turned to see a male cocking a weapon and, he told detectives, without any hesitation grabbed for the gun. The victim and robber struggled briefly, but the robber ran away after falling to the ground without his handgun.
    • At 11:30 a.m. Saturday, a 34-year-old city man was pedaling through Columbus Park when three males approached him from behind and hit him in the head, causing him to fall off his bike. The robbers continued to beat the man, preventing him from getting to his feet, and eventually stole his bike and $40 in cash.  The victim went to two local hospitals seeking treatment, but left both of them because the wait was too long in the emergency rooms. The man then went to a dentist because he thought a chipped tooth was causing him pain.  The dentist found he had a broken jaw and sent him to Capital Health System at Mercer hospital in Trenton, where he received treatment. Then he went to police. Police had no description of the robbers yesterday.
  • September 5 --- The fourth robbery in about 24 hours occurred about 12:30 a.m. Friday as a 52-year-old city woman was walking on Tucker Street.  The woman told police she was approached by a man who "started to make advances at her." She refused to pay attention to the man and kept walking, but the man suddenly grabbed her in a "choke hold" and demanded money.  After she handed him $30, the man -- described as black, about 22 years old, 6 feet 5 inches tall, 140 to 150 pounds, wearing blue jeans, a gray shirt and sneakers -- let her go and ran off, police said, noting that the victim was treated at Capital Health System at Fuld hospital after she complained of dizziness and shortness of breath.
  • September 4 --- Lawrence Township Police are on the hunt for a masked gunman who robbed a township home Thursday night.  The incident occurred at about 8:55 p.m. Thursday at a home on the 900 block of Lanning Avenue. Police said the masked man opened the door to the home, snatched a purse lying on the floor and then fled the scene. The information tArrest Madehey've gleaned so far has led them to believe the victim was specifically targeted.  Police said the robber was described as a black male, between 5-foot-7 and 5-foot-9, heavyset, weighing about 210 pounds. He was wearing a dark ski mask and a dark sweatshirt at the time of the robbery.
  • September 4 --- A holdup took place about 5:25 p.m. Thursday after two boys, ages 15 and 16, exited a bus on Hamilton Avenue. At the corner of Hamilton Avenue and North Anderson Street they were confronted by a man with a gun who ordered them to empty their pockets, police said.  Police said the 15-year-old told the gunman, "The cops are there!" and pointed up Hamilton Avenue. When the gunman turned to look, the boys ran off.  His holdup foiled, the gunman fled in the opposite direction. He was described as black, 25 to 27 years old, 5 feet 7 inches tall, 150 pounds, with a long beard, wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans.
  • September 4 --- A robbery occurred about 11:10 a.m. Thursday behind a shopping center in the 400 block of Lalor Street. Police said a 31-year-old city man was on his way to wash clothes at a local laundry when he was approached by a man who exited a white vehicle that was also occupied by a second man and a woman. The man asked "What's up?" but the victim ignored him and kept walking. The man then suddenly grabbed the victim and, during the ensuing struggle, beat the victim in the head with the butt of a handgun.  Finding no property worth stealing, the man got back into the car and he and his companions drove off, police said, adding that the victim was treated at Capital Health System at Mercer hospital for a head injury. The man who beat the victim was described as being in his mid-20s, about 5 feet 5 inches tall, 180 pounds, wearing a white T-shirt and black jeans. Descriptions of the other man and woman were not available.
  • September 4 --- about 1:30 a.m. Thursday as a 24-year-old city man was driving home from work. He told police that while he was stopped at the corner of South Broad and Elm streets two men ran up to his car, one on the either side. One of the men opened the driver's door, demanded money and put a knife up to his throat, police said.  The robber tried to use the knife to cut a gold chain off the victim's neck, but succeeded in only causing a minor cut to the victim's neck, police said. The victim then removed the chain himself and surrendered it and his cell phone. Both robbers and a third man who had served as a lookout then fled, police said.  Armed with descriptions of the robbers provided by the victim, police scoured the area and located two suspects, who were later identified as Luis Orlando Delgado and Jeffell Kidd. Both were charged with armed robbery and weapon offenses after being positively identified by the victim, police said, noting that Delgado was in possession of the knife and stolen chain and phone when he was arrested. The robber who remains at large was described as a black male in his 20s, unshaven, wearing a white T-shirt and red hat.
