  • August 31 -- An unidentified man was taken to the hospital suffering from a stab wound.  The attack occurred in the 700 block of Chestnut Avenue at about 10:12 Sunday night. According to police, his assailants were a male standing 5-foot-4 and weighing 150 pounds and a 5-foot female weighing 125 pounds.
  • August 30 -- A 34-year-old Trenton woman was walking in the 100 block of South Cook Avenue when two suspects approximately 17 to 18 years old approached her from behind, punched her in the head and demanded money. They made off with $80.  According to police, the suspects - described as black males between the ages of 17 and 18 - punched the victim in the back of the head, then demanded money. She complied and then watched as the teens fled the area with her cash
  • August 29 --  On Friday, a 55-year-old Trenton man was robbed of $300 and struck on the head with a black semi-automatic handgun after being approached by two suspects on East Paul Avenue. According to police the suspects - described as black males between 20 and 25 years old and wearing white T-shirts - fled the scene. The victim stumbled across the street to get help before losing consciousness, police said, and was eventually treated at Helen Fuld.
  • August 29 -- Also on Friday, the Trenton Police Criminal Investigation Bureau Shooting Response Team were called to two homes on Edgemere Avenue at 7:31 a.m. on a report of a shooting, police said. When they arrived, detectives learned two homes were shot, but the victims told the officers they didn't hear or see anything.
  • August 29 -- A man was rushed to a city hospital after he was shot and robbed on Greenwood Avenue near Garfield Avenue about 12:30 a.m. Friday.  Authorities said the man was robbed of his bicycle and cellular phone.
  • August 21 -- A 17 year old male was assaulted and robbed of $1070l.00 at approximately 9:50 p.m. Thursday.  The victim was walking along Chapel Street when he was accosted by two black males.  One put a gun to the victim's head and pulled him into an alley where the suspects began to assault him and deprived him of the cash.  One suspect was described as a black male, 6' tall wearing a white t-shirt; the other was described as a black male, 5'5" tall wearing a black t-shirt. 
  • August 20 -- Trenton police are investigating four robberies that occurred within 10 hours on Wednesday afternoon and night:
    1. The first robbery was a purse-snatching which took place at Ernie Kovacs and South Stockton streets near City Hall, police said. Around 1:15 p.m., 18-year-old Somerville resident Susan Espinosa was leaving the Department of Motor Vehicles Building when, police said, a man approached her from behind and grabbed her purse. Espinosa ran after the fleeing man and tried to wrest her purse out of his hands. But the man punched her in the face, took $30 from the bag, and fled.
    2. A 73-year-old pizza delivery man was robbed at gunpoint on the 400 block of Garfield Avenue just after 3:30 p.m.  Police said John Kelly was making a delivery when two men, one of whom was armed, approached him from behind. They allegedly demanded money, and Kelly handed over $25 before they fled the scene. The two suspects had black masks covering their faces. A search by police of the area did not yield any results.
    3. At about 8:50 p.m., city resident Edward Yajcaji, 44, was in the area of Hudson Street and Dittmar Alley when he was approached by three men. One of them punched Yajcaji in the face and knocked him to the ground. While Yajcaji was down, the men allegedly went through his pockets and took his wallet. The suspects were three males, 16 to 17 years old, riding bicycles.
    4. About three hours later, 43-year-old Elard Revilla of Trenton was near Hudson Street near Fulton Alley, when police said he was approached by seven or eight young men. The young men allegedly proceeded to beat Revilla, and stole his cell phone and $20. The attackers were described as 13 to 14 year olds.

    August 15 -- A man was shot near Ewing township's border with Trenton and police last night were working to identify the gunman.  It was about 1:30 p.m. yesterday when Trenton police received reports that a man had been shot at Calhoun and Ingham streets. City officers rushed to the area and arrived to find that the shooting had taken place in the parking lot of the M&M Delicatessen on the Ewing side of Calhoun Street and that the victim had been driven by a friend to the emergency room at Capital Health System at Mercer hospital, police said. The wounded man was later transferred by ambulance from Mercer hospital to the trauma center at Fuld, police said, noting that the friend who drove the wounded man to the hospital was detained for questioning. Ewing police, who were notified of the shooting by Trenton authorities, said they have been told by witnesses that a "large" group of men was gathered in the deli parking lot just before the shooting began. Once a gunshot was heard, all the men scattered, the witnesses told police.  The victim, a 23-year-old Trenton resident whose name was not released, was being treated for a gunshot wound to the hip and was reported to be in stable condition last night at Capital Health System at Fuld hospital, police said.

     
  • August 10 -- A 29-year-old Hamilton man was shot and killed Sunday night outside his Norman Court apartment. Police responded to 205 Norman Court at 9:50 p.m. Sunday after receiving a 911 call about a possible shooting.  Upon arrival, they found the victim lying on the floor in the bathroom doorway.  He was pronounced dead on the scene.  Early investigation revealed that the victim, identified as Chaz J. Murray, age 29, and three friends were sitting outside the residence when they were approached by two black males dressed in dark clothing with black skull caps pulled down over their faces, black bandanas, and armed with handguns.  Murray was shot as he attempted to run into his apartment.  He ran upstairs and collapsed on the floor.  The two suspects robbed the other three males of cash totaling about $460 and fled the scene. 
  • August 5 -- Man sought in attempted rape of woman at knifepoint.  Despite the knife being held against her neck, a 23-year-old woman screamed for help and scared off the man who police believe intended to rape her.  The woman's frightening ordeal occurred about 11:40 p.m. Tuesday in her home in the 1000 block of South Clinton Avenue.  The man was described as having a medium brown complexion and muscular build, about 20 to 25 years old, 5 feet 5 inches tall, 160 pounds, wearing a blue T-shirt, dark jeans, white cap and black sneakers.
  • August 3  -- An 18-year-old city man was found dead from multiple gunshot wounds in Villa Park early Sunday, police said. Police spokesman Sgt. Pedro Medina said investigators are "looking into the possibility" that the killing of Brian K. Smalls was gang-related. Medina said officers responding to a shots fired call just before 1 a.m. on the 300 block of Ardmore Avenue arrived to find Smalls lying motionless between two parked cars. Smalls was taken to Capital Health System at Fuld where doctors attempted to save his life, but was pronounced dead at 2:26 a.m. Police have no motive as of yet, and the only description of a suspect was a black male wearing a red T-shirt.
  • August 2 -- A Trenton teenager and a friend were stabbed in the 200 block of Hamilton Avenue, police reported. The 19-year-old male victim, whom police did not identify, had suffered a lacerated colon and was in critical condition, but following surgery at Capital Health System at Fuld hospital in Trenton, was reported in stable condition, police reported.  His friend, a 21-year-old male from Trenton, suffered deep cuts to his right arm, and was treated at the hospital and was reported in stable condition, police said. The incident occurred between 1:30 and 1:48 a.m. Saturday when the two men were walking home from a local bar and were approached by three males in the vicinity of South Clinton and Hamilton avenues. According to police, one suspect threatened the pair with a knife, they fled and the suspects chased them.  The three assailants were all described as about 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10, and one was wearing a red T-shirt and bluejeans, police said.
