Man stabbed in Saturday morning robbery attempt

A man is in critical condition after he was stabbed multiple times Saturday morning, December 1, during a robbery on Chestnut Avenue. The victim suffered a punctured lung and was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center-Fuld where he is in critical, but stable condition, police said. The man was attacked by three robbers, two men and a woman.

Jersey Street shooters sought

A city man is in stable, but critical condition after he was shot several times in the first block of Jersey Street 1:20 a.m., Wednesday, November 28. The victim was walking home from his girlfriend’s house when he was approached by two men in black clothing and masks. The suspects opened fire on the victim, striking him with bullets multiple times. The men took the victim’s wallet before fleeing the scene.

Suspects in Ewing shooting sought

A gunman shot at two Sussex County men who were trying to sell an all-terrain vehicle shortly before 4 p.m., Sunday, November 25, in Ewing township. The man who was hit, a 22-year-old Andover resident, and a 20-year-old companion were on the 300 block of Dryden Avenue trying to sell the ATV to an unidentified man. As soon as the deal was struck, two other men came out from behind a trailer and one opened fire with a handgun. The wounded man and his friend got in their car and fled to a parking lot on the 1400 block of Prospect Street. Police did not have a full description of the gunman or the person he was with. The man who was trying to buy the ATV was described as a black male, dark-skinned, 5 foot 4 inches tall, with facial hair and wearing a puffy black jacket.

Information sought on west ward shooting

Trenton police are investigating a shooting that happened around 3:20 p.m. on Sunday, November, 25. A man was shot multiple times on Christoph Avenue and fell to the ground in the 600 block of Stuyvesant Avenue. The victim was shot in the back multiple times, as he was exiting his vehicle on Christoph Avenue. Two black males wearing face masks and black hooded sweatshirts approached and opened fire. The assailants fled the scene in an unknown direction after shooting the victim.

Police seeking info in shooting death of Mercer County corrections officer

Carl Batie, 26, a Mercer County Corrections officer was shot to death at the Baldassari Regency banquet hall in Trenton by a gunman who opened fire on a second floor rear deck from the parking lot below. Batie, of Willingboro, was off-duty and attending a function at the Morris Avenue restaurant when the shooting occurred a little after 1:oo, Sunday morningh, November 11. Police are investigating to determine whether or not he was the intended target.

Ewing gas station held up at gun point

A masked man carrying a weapon resembling a rifle robbed a Spruce Street gas station Sunday afternoon, October 21. The Romeco station was robbed around around 12:45 p.m. A man in a ski mask who was brandishing a “longer frame” firearm approached the 28-year-old station attendant and demanded money. The attendant handed over an undisclosed amount of cash and the suspect took off running on Spruce Street towards Trenton. The suspect is described as a black male, 18 to 30 years old, 5 foot 9 inches to 5 foot 10 inches tall, 180 to 185 pounds, with a thin build, wearing a dark hoodie, blue jeans with white stains on them, and a ski mask.

Shooting on Ardmore avenue results in city’s 19th homicide

Trenton police converged on the 300 block of Ardmore Avenue in the city’s East Ward Friday evening, October 19, in response to a shooting that left a 30 year old and a 22 year old injured.  The 22 year old, identified as John Montalvo, succumbed to his injuries Saturday evening.

Victim beaten in mugging

A 75-year-old woman was left with fractures and contusions and briefly stopped breathing following a purse-snatching and assault in the Villa Park section of the city Saturday afternoon, Ocotber 13. She suffered a fractured nose, contusion to her head and concussion, had difficulty breathing and may have fractured her ribs.  The Hamilton resident was outside a house she owns on the 400 block of Commonwealth Avenue around 1:30 p.m. A witness heard her screaming and ran around the corner, where he saw a man trying to take the woman’s purse as she tried to hold on to it.

Clutching the purse, the assailant ran onto Roebling Avenue towards Chambers Street as the witness pursued him. The suspect managed to escape and an ambulance was called to take the injured woman to St. Francis Medical Center.

Police canvassed the area but could find no sign of the suspect. He is described as a black male about 30 years old, 6 feet tall, with thin to medium build, wearing eyeglasses, a gray sweat jacket and light blue jeans at the time of the crime.
